"Sewn Together" Sourwood Tree of Wilcox Park

$500.00

This original mixed media artwork was created during my artist residency at Wilcox Park, Rhode Island, inspired by the delicate beauty of the Sourwood tree and its vital pollinators. At the center is a finely detailed graphite drawing of the tree, capturing its graceful form and textured bark.

The artwork is enriched with hand-stitched embroidery of Sourwood flowers, symbolizing the tree’s seasonal bloom and its role in the ecosystem. Accompanying the tree are delicate graphite illustrations of a bee and hummingbird, honoring the pollinators essential to the Sourwood’s life cycle.

Additional layers include fragments of vintage music sheets, textured paper, and hand-applied beading, each element weaving together themes of nature, rhythm, and interconnectedness.

Measuring 10”x 20”, this piece invites reflection on the harmony between plant and pollinator, nature and art, and place and process.
